Using Features

First Comment (Instagram & Facebook)

Overview

The first comment feature lets you automatically post a comment on your own post the moment it goes live. This is commonly used to keep your caption clean while still including hashtags, calls-to-action, or engagement prompts.

Supported Platforms

  • Instagram — First comment appears immediately under your post, reel, or carousel
  • Facebook Pages — First comment appears as the top comment on your page post

How to Add a First Comment

  1. Create a new post and select your Instagram or Facebook account(s)
  2. Click Add first comment below the caption editor
  3. A second text area will appear — type your first comment here
  4. Schedule or publish the post as normal

When the post goes live, Autoposter will automatically post the comment for you.

Tips

  • Hashtags — Move all your hashtags into the first comment to keep your caption focused on the message
  • Engagement prompts — Ask a question or include a call-to-action (e.g. "Drop a 🔥 if you agree")
  • Links — On Facebook, include a link in the first comment instead of the caption to avoid algorithmic suppression
  • You can only add one first comment per post
  • The first comment supports text only — no images or media

Notes

Platforms that don't support first comments (TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, etc.) will ignore the first comment — your post will still publish normally to those platforms, just without the comment.
